Kinetic Therapy & Cupping

WHAT IS KINETIC THERAPY & CUPPING?

Kinetic Therapy and cupping are types of soft tissue mobilisation which use a tool and cups.

DOES IT HURT?

It can be tender when the problem areas are first released. The short term soreness is a small exchange for the relief of the issues which may have been bothering you for weeks, months or even years. Ultimately, it is your treatment and you are in control of what feels right for you.

HOW WILL IT HELP?

These techniques can reduce pain, improve function and increase range of motion through a deeper approach. It does this by:

• Stimulating a natural healing process

• Reducing fascial adhesions and restrictions

• Promoting tissue repair

• Improving nerve conduction

• Improving fluid circulation

• Mobilising scar tissue

WHAT TO EXPECT FROM A SESSION?

At the beginning of a session a tool is used to scan the region, for example the hamstrings, to identify any specific areas of tightness or stiffness.

Redness from microvascular and capillary hemorrhage, along with localised inflammation, can occur as a result of appropriate pressure to the soft tissue. Such inflammation restarts the healing process by removing the scar tissue and releasing adhesions, while also increasing blood and nutrient supply to the area.

WHAT CONDITIONS CAN BE HELPED?

• Muscle soreness

• Chronic ankle instability

• Carpal tunnel syndrome

• Plantar fasciitis

• ITB syndrome

• Tendon Issues such as golfer’s or tennis elbow

• Chronic muscle and ligament strain
